IRVING, Texas – Construction for the new University of Dallas soccer field began this week. This past spring, the soccer and lacrosse fields were switched to accommodate for renovating the facilities. The new location for UD’s men’s and women’s soccer games will be located at the top field past the baseball and softball facilities.

“This is something the alumni have invested in heavily,” Dallas Men’s Soccer Head Coach David Hoffmann stated. “It will benefit current and future players.”

A 10-year contract was agreed to with Solar Soccer Club – the oldest continuous soccer club in the Dallas Fort Worth area for both boys and girls. They will share the facility, which features lights that will allow for evening games.

“This field project is a benefit in so many ways,” Hoffmann explained. “Lights will benefit the student body and fans. There will be more evening activities in the form of games and temperatures will be cooler for everyone in attendance.”

The 16th-year head coach expanded on the benefit this upgraded facility brings to the University for recruiting.

“The University of Dallas will gain a great deal of exposure through the partnership with Solar Soccer Club. We expect hundreds of families to come to UD on weekends over the course of the spring. With Solar’s Development Academy playing their home games here during the UD off-season we will see families from San Antonio, Houston, Austin, and Dallas clubs like FCD and Texans attend matches here and be exposed first-hand to the University of Dallas.”

Hoffmann’s team enjoyed its best season since 2008, with a 13-4-2 record and finished runner-up to a top-5 nationally ranked Trinity University team. The Crusaders posted their best record in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

The men’s soccer team scrimmages versus Coastal Bend College on August 23rd. The season and home opener will be on Aug. 31st against Sul Ross State University.

Women’s Soccer Head Coach Lexi Stinson will begin her second year at the helm. Her squad plays two fall scrimmages with North Lake College (Aug. 24th) and Wiley College (28th), but will not be home for a regular season game until September 7th when the conference opener with new member Johnson & Wales University (CO) is scheduled
