It’s always fun to see how our former players are doing. In 2013, Chris Gangi’s 1995 Solar’s ECNL team graduated 20 players. Of those 20 players, 19 went on to play college soccer, and the 20th had the opportunity to play in college, but elected to focus her efforts on her education.
Fast forward to 2016, 14 of those players are still playing in their final year of eligibility for college soccer. How are they doing? I think it’s fair to say: pretty well! Casie Ramsier has just been selected as the SEC Player of the Week! But it doesn’t stop there. Casie is also on the MAC Hermann (college soccer’s version of the Heisman Trophy) watch list. Her twin sister, Brooke Ramsier and former Solar teammate Emily Morrow were selected to TopDrawerSoccer’s National Team of the Week for October 11th.
Solar’s influence on college soccer doesn’t end there. The most recent midseason Conference Top 20 Players (as selected by TopDrawerSoccer) included a number of our 1995 players. Casie & Brooke Ramsier (SEC), Allie Johnson (Southland), Bronwyn Boswell (Missouri Valley), Lauren Prater (Sunbelt) were all recognized as conference players at the top of the game.
In addition, Allie Johnson (Sam Houston), Jennifer Boudreau (St. Edwards), and Bronwyn Boswell (Evansville) all currently lead all scorers on their respective squads.
We’re very proud of these players and all of our players that have moved on to the highest levels of their sport. We’d like to think that their time with Solar Soccer Club was a positive influence on their growth as an athlete and, more importantly, as an individual!
